“I am interested in the relationship between attitudes to political processes and political participation. Do citizens across countries seek greater involvement in political processes or is there – as Hibbing and Theiss-Morse’s evidence on the U.S. suggests – a trend towards ‘stealth democracy’ where the decisions are better left to experts? Do these preferences for political processes have implications for the political behaviour of citizens?
