Before joining the POLPART team as a senior researcher, I specialized in family demography and life course sociology, and I have worked in the field of life course criminology. Most of my research is based on quantitative methods, yet I have also conducted qualitative research. I have been involved in several cross-national research projects. Within the POLPART project I coordinate the international team and I supervise PhD candidates Sebastien Rojon and Maarten van Bezouw, together with Bert Klandermans.  I am involved in all subprojects, and I am especially interested in studying inequalities (e.g. in terms of gender, education, life course status) in political participation, and how they are shaped by macro-level factors.
