Political Participation – An International Comparative Research Project

Over the next five years, we will conduct a large international comparative research project on different forms of political participation. The project will be led by Prof. Dr. Bert Klandermans. The project is financed by the European Research Council and will consist of four different sub-projects. In these sub-projects, the research team will study both conventional (for example voting) and non-conventional (for example street protest) forms of political participation. The international research will be conducted in the Netherlands and eight other countries in Europe and Latin-America. The central research question is how people influence politics and why?
